Majors Dale and Glenys Pilgrim

Dale was born in St. Anthony, Newfoundland and spent most of his formative years there.  Glenys is a Newfoundlander as well, raised in the little outport of Hare Bay.  They both testify to a childhood conversion and heard God’s call to become Salvation Army officers in their teen years.  They trained at the college for officer training in St. John’s, NL, Dale with the Heralds of Hope session (1981-1983) and Glenys with the Servants of God session (1982-1984). They were married following training.

Their time as Salvation Army officers included appointments as Corps Officers in Newfoundland, Bermuda and Ontario.  They have also served as divisional youth leaders, college for officer training staff and served in the personnel department at territorial headquarters and divisional headquarters.  They both hold a bachelor of arts degree from Booth University College and Dale holds a master’s degree in leadership from Trinity Western University, Langley, BC and a Masters Certificate in Organization Development and Change with York University (Schulich School of Business). Dale authored two books, God’s Personal Strategy: Being Church, Living on Purpose and recently published Sermons that Illuminate: How the Bible can ignite your preaching to connect people with God.

Dale and Glenys have two adult daughters who are married and living in Kitchener-Waterloo.  They are the proud grandparents of two grandchildren, Isaiah (4 years) and Brooklyn (2 years).  They enjoy nothing more than getting an opportunity to hang out with these little ones and see life through their eyes!  They also enjoy spending time with family and friends, reflecting on God’s provisions over a good cup of coffee, going for a walk or reading a good book!  Their desire is to live with their eyes wide open, looking to see God in the adventures of their everyday!

Courtney has been in Children and Youth Ministry for upwards of 10 years, and has been our full-time Children and Youth Coordinator since 2018. Courtney grew up in Calgary, Alberta and has been a faithful member of The Salvation Army and invested in their ministry for as long as she can remember.
Courtney’s calling to Children and Youth Ministry began when she was a young Sunday School teacher in Calgary. That calling, excitement and passion for ministry has continued to grow ever since. She loves working with children and youth, and their families, it is a privilege that will not be taken for granted.  She feels blessed to call our church her family and looks forward to many more years of ministry here.
